What book or movie is it in which some piano virtuoso comes back to a piano after years away and is afraid to play again? I have this vivid picture in my head of him (or her, I can only picture the hands) opening and closing his hands as the pianist musters up courage to touch the keys.
That's how I feel. (Because I used to be a blogger virtuoso, of course!)
I haven't posted in a really long time.
I know you poor souls are all going to look at this because it is going to come up as a new post on Aaron's blog list.
I feel powerful.
Why is it that I feel compelled to tell you how I feel?
......
How many of you can instantly recall what you are wearing without looking to see? I frequently have a hard time remembering. "Oh, you like my skirt? Just a minute while I look to see which one it is." Perhaps this is a warning sign of Alzheimers?

Perhaps you are thinking of the grandfather in Heidi ('cept it was an organ...).
Resounding shouts of "I CAN!"
The piano virtuoso sounds like me; except I have to muster up courage to play every single time I sit down at the piano!
Bria, something very strange happened or maybe I'm demented as well. I was reading your blog earlier today, then I went and saw Jill's blog and left a comment for her which was, in fact, the first comment, saying "Congratulations and thanks for the pictures". I went back to her blog just now and saw that the first comment was under your name...am I losing my mind? Did you comment at the same time and say the same thing or did I somehow take on your identity in a crazy, mixed up internet conspiracy?? So confused.
ljmaxx--This is extremely odd. I am pretty sure that I did post that first comment and that "Congratulations and thanks for the pictures" is what I said, but you never know. I've been feeling slightly insane whenever I use blogger recently, because I've commented (or thought I commented) on blogs a few times never to have the comments show up, and that on blogs without comment moderation.
Is it possible that we might have posted at exactly the same moment and that mine bumped yours? Or maybe it has something to do with the "ghost in the machine"...
That is SOOO Weird! I'm beginning to doubt my own sanity...Maybe I just imagined all of that?! I'm scared.
it's BRIAAAAA!
In the very odd, and not so wonderful movie, The Piano Lesson, the mother thought the piano was huanted, and wouldn't play it. The grand climax of the movie is when she overcomes her fear and pounds out a tune on the old instrument, in order to de-haunt her house.
I don't think that was the movie you were thinking of.
